Rachael Reynolds-Soucie graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in journalism.
Shortly after graduation, Rachael began her career at The Daily Journal as a general assignment reporter. She became the assistant editor for features in 2004, the same year she was named Travel Writer of the Year by the Midwest Travel Writers Association, the oldest association of professional travel writers in the U.S.
In 2005, Rachael became the Features Editor at The Daily Journal. During her tenure, she and her staff captured many awards, including coveted recognition as Best Features Section from the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors.
Rachael was named Assistant Metro Editor in 2009 and, three years later, Metro Editor, during which time her proudest moments were putting out the front page of the paper each week day.
Rachael became the Niche Publications Editor in summer 2013, overseeing specialty publications in cluding Yes!, Fresh, and Thrive. You can also find her on the pages of the weekend Life section with her weekly column, Mom on the Move.
A native of Joliet, she enjoys sewing, gardening and finding old stuff at garage sales to fix up and decorate her 110-year-old
home. Rachael also enjoys reading, movies, travel and cooking.
She lives in Kankakee’s Riverview Historic District with husband, Steve, the Sports Editor for The Daily Journal, 8-year-old Grace, their golden retriever Lily, and two cats, Maxwell and Emily.
